SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS
Obtaining sufficient doctors to ensure that you can see a GP on the day you need to is not always possible.
We do however, offer a limited number of appointments each day for urgent cases.
WORLD CLASS FACILITIES
Bauhinia Health Clinic has been set up with optimal medical equipment, a procedure room, an emergency room and a dedicated telehealth centre.
It is also an extremely beautiful facility that aims to provide patients with optimal privacy.
EXPERT DOCTORS
The GPs working in our facility are all also qualified in other specialties.
Our doctors offer each patient an extraordinary level of care that goes beyond general practice, with the sole focus of supporting your health and wellbeing.
COMPLEMENTARY SERVICES
Patient-centred care means you shouldn’t have to travel to access other health and wellbeing services.
Pathology services are in-house.
We are also bringing specialists to our clinic to make referrals easier, along with monthly audiology and optometry services .

Carol is no stranger to Bauhinia Health, first coming to us in 2021 as a locum, then again last year – now she is here in Katherine to work with us and the Katherine Hospital for the next year.
She is passionate about women’s health, mental health, general health & wellbeing and chronic disease management
We were very excited when Dr Banner mentioned that she doesn’t like winter in South Australia and therefore has no intention of returning to Adelaide!

With special interests in women’s health and emergency medicine, Dr Banner also works at Katherine Hospital in both the maternity and emergency departments, as well as delivering remote women’s outreach to surrounding communities.
Having graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2010, Dr Banner is an amazing addition to the team at Bauhinia Health. When visiting Dr Banner at the clinic, all members of the community can rest assured that they’ll receive dedicated and quality service.
Given that Dr Banner enjoys horse riding, bush walking and playing music in her spare time, we’re confident that the Katherine region and community is the perfect fit!
The team at Bauhinia Health is ecstatic to welcome Dr David Simon back to the Katherine Region!
Having first come to Katherine in 1985 as
Scattini. Having worked across the Top End as a GP until 1992, Dr Simon returned to the NT from Victoria in 2018 to become Director Obstetrics and Gynaecology at RDH, as well as providing outreach specialist care at Katherine Hospital during this time.
As a GP with well over 25 years’ experience specialising in Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, training and mentoring rural GP obstetricians and teaching medical students, Dr Simon brings an exceptional level of expertise, knowledge and patient-centre primary healthcare to the team. Dr Simon especially enjoys working as a Rural GP, and has a keen interest in women’s health and pregnancy care, men’s health and skin cancer care – with his other passions including extensive travel in the Pacific, mainly in PNG, and supporting local specialist training.
Dr Simon and his wife Sue, who is also part of the team at the clinic, relocated back to Katherine where he has chosen to join the regions’ GP maternity care team and provide specialist gynaecology services at Katherine Hospital.
We are very confident that Dr Simon will be extremely busy at the clinic and are delighted his services are available through Bauhinia Health to the Katherine community.

With a personality as warm as the Queensland sun, we’re excited to introduce you to Dr Viplove Sharma. Originally from Canada, Dr Sharma is a proud University of Queensland graduate who brings a wealth of experience from metro and rural Queensland.

He enjoys all aspects of general practice and has keen interest in men and women’s health, chronic disease management (such as type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease), sports injuries and work cover.

Dr Jo moved to Brisbane from the UK in 2018. As an experienced GP in the NHS and now in Brisbane, she is keen to provide a service to the community of Katherine, and we are very pleased that she can.
Whilst her interests are in women’s health, mental health and chronic disease, as all our GP’s – she is happy to see you for any medical issue you wish to discuss.
Bill for the past 3 years has been managing a large Health Service.
Bill has fallen in love with Katherine and its people and loves to garden.
I have spent the last thirty years in Health policy development and service delivery. I am committed to having person-centered, primary health care for the community of Katherine. I believe it is paramount to the wellbeing and quality of life.

Emergency Care
We understand that sometimes you need to see a doctor on the day, so we offer a limited number of appointments each day for urgent cases.
However, if you have an emergency please call 000 or attend Katherine Hospital Emergency Department.
